My Approach

My approach is to dig into what your experience is, what it’s like to be you. So this can be considered both holistic and individualized. I believe that each person’s experience with anxiety, depression, or OCD is unique, and therefore, their treatment should be too. I use a variety of evidence-based therapies, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Internal Family Systems (IFS), mindfulness techniques, and psychodynamic therapy, tailored to meet your specific needs. Additionally, I will be asking for your feedback. Your treatment includes letting me know what is not working. This is another way I have a we approach this is not a me approach.

Anxiety

Anxiety can manifest in many forms, from generalized anxiety disorder to social anxiety, panic attacks, and specific phobias. It can be overwhelming and debilitating, affecting every aspect of your life. Together we will work on identifying the root causes of your anxiety, develop coping strategies, and implement techniques to manage and reduce the associated feelings that often cause you to feel hijacked. Through a combination of CBT, mindfulness, and other tailored therapies, we aim to empower you and sometimes to befriend this current foe. I am so excited to show you how.

Depression

Depression is more than just feeling sad or going through a rough patch. It’s a pervasive condition that impacts your thoughts, feelings, and daily activities. Depression you feel in your body as a weight sometimes. I am here to listen, support, and guide you through this difficult time. I offer a safe space to explore your feelings, understand your depression, and develop a plan for recovery. One of the things we don’t often talk about is that providing a safe space means a safe space for you to feel anything and everything. I will be inviting you to actually talk, yell, or otherwise express the difficult things that often go unsaid. I do blend of CBT, DBT, IFS, and psychodynamic therapies into a plan for treatment. I endeavor to help you find hope, build resilience, and walk into the life you envision for yourself.

Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD)

OCD is characterized by unwanted, intrusive thoughts (obsessions) and repetitive behaviors or mental acts (compulsions) that you feel driven to perform. One of the facts I found out about OCD is that individuals might continually see therapists and find that they are identified with GAD consistently. However, it may take someone who has OCD 17 therapists before they are identified with OCD. This isn’t happening as often as OCD is better understood and treatment is possible. It can be a highly distressing and isolating condition. I utilize Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), a form of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) that is highly effective in reducing the intensity and frequency of OCD symptoms. I also will assess for Autism Spectrum Disorder and other co-occurring symptoms that can be contributing to your distress. Additionally, I integrate mindfulness and other therapeutic approaches to help you break the cycle of obsessions and compulsions, reclaiming your life. I will also be asking for your feedback. I do use efficacy based treatments, but it is
important to understand efficacy based treatments work on a group of individuals. You are not a group and together we will explore the appropriate treatment for your particular experience of OCD.
